Piskel is a web application that aids the creation of pixel art sprites/animations. Open a new tab with Piskel, and click on the “Create Sprite” button to get started!
There are many available tools to assist with drawing.

The pen tool lets artists draw pixel-by-pixel.

The color picker lets artists pick the color of the pen.

The eraser tool lets artists erase pixels.
It is possible to undo drawing by pressing CTRL+Z keys.

The vertical mirror pen lets artists draw on one side of the canvas and mirror the drawing on the other side. By holding the CTRL key, it is possible to mirror horizontally instead of vertically.

The paint bucket tool lets artists fill in large portions of the canvas with the same color.

The stroke tool lets artists draw lines. By holding the SHIFT key, it is possible to draw proper straight lines.

The rectangle tool lets artists draw rectangles. By holding the SHIFT key, it is possible to draw perfect squares.

The circle tool lets artists draw ovals. By holding the SHIFT key, it is possible to draw perfect circles.

The move tool lets artists move parts of the canvas. This can be very helpful for animations.
Piskel has a lot of options to create more interesting works.
It is possible to add multiple frames to a Piskel; this allows artists to create animations. Add a new frame by clicking “Add new frame” or by duplicating an existing frame.


It is possible to resize the drawing area, to change the resolution of the pixel art. Click the “Resize” button on the right side of the screen, enter new values for Width and Height, and click the “Resize” button.
